The Chicago Cubs might be willing to make a Yu Darvish trade with the San Diego Padres.

The San Diego Padres stunned the baseball world overnight last night. They sent four prospects over to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Blake Snell. Snell is an All-Star pitcher that also has a Cy Young Award in his back pocket so you know he is a great pitcher. They are trying to win it all in 2021 and remain competitive for a long time. They have a very entertaining baseball team and they continue to get better every day. The Chicago Cubs might help them get even better now.

They are still, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic, very much in play for Cubs starter Yu Darvish. It seems like a lot to add pitchers like Snell and Darvish in one offseason but the Padres are really going for it. Lin is as plugged in as any San Diego Padres media person so he is definitely someone to believe. This is something that would really give them the edge in the National League for 2021.

Darvish had his best season as a Chicago Cub in 2020. Things weren’t going well for him in a Cubs uniform prior to that season but it sure was a resurgence. He came in second place for the National League Cy Young because he was so good. He had an ERA of 2.01 and a WHIP of 0.961 so you know he did a good job of keeping runs off the board.

His WAR of 2.7 and record of 8-3 tell the story of how much he actually meant to the Cubs in 2021. If the Padres added him and he pitched like that, there is no reason to think they can’t be a World Series winner. These are three trade packages that might get the deal done:
