6. Chicago Bears’ best replacements for Mitchell Trubisky: Carson Wentz

There may not be a tougher story to follow this season than that of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. Just a couple of seasons removed from looking like a long-time franchise quarterback who could even bring home an MVP, Wentz is now relegated to the bench after struggling all season long.

For the Eagles, it was a necessary decision to bench Wentz. Rookie Jalen Hurts has looked great in his limited action, and appears to give the offense a whole lot more juice. His rushing ability makes things much tougher for defenses to game plan, obviously, and he’s been better than expected passing the ball as well.

Next year, the Eagles will reportedly hang onto Wentz. But, that’s from recent reports. Much could change in a matter of a few months. Should the Eagles receive calls about his availability, Wentz very well could end up in another uniform next season — especially if the other recent reports are true regarding his desire to be traded if he’s not going to start.

Does he simply need a change of scenery and a fresh start? Or, is Wentz really this bad? Is he already done in the NFL? It’s a tough situation, especially considering his contract. Wentz would leave the Eagles with $59 million in dead cap should he be cut next year, which is also why trading for him might be pretty difficult.
