14. Chicago Bears’ best replacements for Mitchell Trubisky: Zach Wilson

The one quarterback rising up draft boards and catching every Bears fan’s attention the past couple of months, Zach Wilson, may now be out of reach for Chicago. But, if Chicago decided to trade up a few spots, they could grab him.

More from Da Windy City

Wilson has taken the college football world by storm this year. The kid has a confidence and swagger about him that’s contagious. Just watching BYU games this year, it’s hard not to become a fan of this team because of how Wilson plays and conducts himself. The guy loves playing football, and he loves playing well.

This season, Wilson ended with a ridiculous line, completing 73.4 percent of his passes and throwing for 3,699 yards (12 games), 33 touchdowns and just three picks. Not to mention, Wilson also ran in 10 touchdowns of his own on the ground, giving him 43 total scores on the year.

When you watch Wilson, you do get Patrick Mahomes vibes. He’s a guy always looking for the big play, and here’s the crazy part — he can make those throws. He’s made dozens of eye-popping throws throughout his career at BYU. Wilson has shown plenty of occasions where someone watching would go, “Wow, that’s an NFL throw.”

He’s done that on the regular, which is why he’s probably launched himself into a top-12 pick at this stage. Again, if the Bears wanted him, they would have to trade up in all likelihood.
