Chicago Cubs. Kyle Hendricks. 28. player. 9. . SP

If you asked anyone who the best pitcher on the Chicago Cubs roster was ahead of the 2020 season, they would have said Kyle Hendricks. He still might even be their best pitcher and Darvish just fooled us all in 2020 with his second-place Cy Young finish. Darvish has to be considered the number one starter because of the way he played in 2020 but Hendricks is right behind him. He, despite maybe not being as dominant as Darvish, was still one of the best pitchers in the National League.

In fact, maybe he didn’t come in second place for the Cy Young but he did come in ninth which is no small feat. He was still voted to be one of the ten best pitchers in the entire NL which is nothing to be disappointed with by any means. The Cubs loved basically having two aces at the top of their staff. There is a good chance that Hendricks is back to being the number one on the team by the end of 2021 anyway.

The thing that makes Kyle Hendricks so good is the way he attacks hitters. He is one of the best in the league at throwing the necessary pitches based on the situation. He isn’t going to ever throw three straight 100 miles per hour pitches by anyone to get them out but he will throw strikes and help his team win baseball games.
