The Chicago Cubs are probably operating under the idea that they are not going to have a designated hitter in 2021. That was supposedly a one-year thing that will only have been for the 2020 season. However, it feels like a rule that is set to change for good by the time the season behind in 2021. The Cubs would benefit from it greatly if they made a move to supplement that spot. Nobody wants to watch hitters be bad at hitting anymore anyway so they might as well make the change permanent.

If for whatever reason they decide to keep the pitcher’s batting, then you would just take the upcoming ninth hitter and put him eighth and bat the pitcher ninth. Hopefully, we don’t have to deal with that anymore because it makes baseball less fun.

If the Cubs added a guy like Nelson Cruz to their lineup, he would be great as the designated hitter. He is 40 years old but he was one of the best players in Major League Baseball last season. He came in sixth place for the American League MVP because he was so good for the Minnesota Twins. If the Cubs wanted to win in 2021, adding an awesome hitter like Cruz would be awesome.
