6. Jason Heyward – RF

Ever since Jason Heyward arrived in Chicago, he was given the short end of the stick in terms of public reception. He was given a lot of money for the Cubs and his numbers have mostly not lived up to the contract. He did win the World Series with them but he wasn’t as big to them winning it as they would have thought when they first signed him.

Despite this reputation, he was one of their best players in 2020. He has been in trade rumors this offseason so far but they would need to give something else up in order for another team to take his contract. Either way, we have to assume that he is going to be with the Cubs next season, and batting sixth is a perfect role with Kyle Schwarber gone.

He is going to play right field and be very good defensively. Hopefully, for the Cubs’ sake, he is able to recreate some of that 2020 magic in 2021. If he does, and he has a healthy core hitting in front of him, this could be a dangerous lineup. Heyward, despite not living up to his contract, has been a good player and an even better teammate during his time with the Cubs.
