The Chicago Cubs have a great catcher in Willson Contreras. He is truly one of the best catchers in all of baseball. If the Cubs do in fact make him available, there will be teams that line up to see what the Cubs are charging for a guy like him. Any team that is a contender that needs a catcher would be very wise to bring in a guy like this. For now, building the best possible lineup for the 2021 Chicago Cubs has to have Willson Contreras betting fifth.

Contreras, out of the big four on the Cubs, probably had the best year of them all. They need them all to rebound in 2020 but Willson Contreras gives you the best vibes going forward when you look at some of the numbers. He, like Rizzo, had a 1.0 WAR but his batting average and OPS were better. It does seem like he is one of the candidates to be traded but that pretty much goes for everyone in this lineup.

The fact remains that if the Cubs want to win in 2021, Willson Contreras better be their catcher. He is pretty good defensively as well and continues to get better. Batting fifth would allow him to be right there with the other Cubs core members that struggled in 2020. If they all hit their stride, the 2-5 could be one of the best in the league.
