1. Ian Happ – CF

The Chicago Cubs saw Ian Happ be one of the bright spots of their starting lineup in 2020. It wasn’t a good year for a lot of their bats but Happ was amazing for most of the year. He was straight-up dominant in the beginning but he maintained a really good pace for the rest of the season. He is the perfect bat to be leading off this lineup going forward.

Happ didn’t have a lot of playing time in 2019. Albert Almora Jr got a majority of the playing time but Happ came in at the end. He won the job and 2020 and the Cubs were rewarded for it. They probably wouldn’t have won the division in the end if Happ wasn’t so good, especially at the beginning of the season.

In 57 games played, his 1.4 WAR was a solid reflection of how good he was. He slashed .258/.361/.505 with an OPS of .866. He hit 12 home runs, had 28 RBIs, and 27 runs scored. It was a great year for him as he finished 18th in NL MVP voting. If he can keep this up in 2021, he is going to be a great leadoff man with some great talent hitting behind him.
