3. Running Back David Montgomery

David Montgomery is a little different than the previous two players, mostly because he’s actually been pretty good this year with his limited opportunities and horrific blocking up front.

You could argue that it’s been more on Nagy that Montgomery’s talent level would ever be questioned. He’s a very good player, but hasn’t had the right situation this year. Against the Lions last week, though, he was given the ball early and often, and he showed why the Bears believe in him as their feature back.

Over the past two games, Montgomery has seemed to heat up a little bit. Finally, it looks as though the offensive line is playing better with the current group put together, and Montgomery is breaking tackles at a rate like we’re used to seeing. It’s been working.

The Texans are 31st against the run, giving up 150.9 yards per game on the ground this season. So, this is a game that Montgomery should continue his recent string of solid play. In fact, this should really be his best game of the season based on the matchup.

Houston’s defense as a whole has been bad this year, both against the pass and the run, so quite honestly this should be another game where the Bears score a decent amount of points. Montgomery’s presence has to be the focal point from the get-go, though. If he’s given the opportunities, he’ll have a chance to remind us once more why the Bears went up and got him last spring.
