Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves are right there with the San Diego Padres for the team most likely to dethrone the Dodgers in 2021. They were so close to being that team in 2020 but fell just short. They had a 3-1 series lead over the Dodgers in the National League Championship series and let it slip away. The Dodgers came all the way back and won the series to advance to the World Series. Of course, as mentioned before, the Dodgers did end up winning it which had to sting for the Braves. That could have been them.

They have what it takes to get back to that spot in 2021 but they probably want another boost. If they added a player like Schwarber, they would be getting a nice boost. He could provide offense in ways that a lot of free-agent bats cannot so he is worth considering for any big contender. If he went to the Braves, studs like Freddie Freeman, Ozzie Albies, and Ronald Acuna Jr. would really benefit from it because they’d be getting another big power-bat.

Schwarber has been on the other side of a playoff series like the one the Braves just experienced. The Cubs were down 3-1 in the World Series to the Cleveland Indians and came all the way back. Bringing together some experiences like that might be smart for the brass of the Atlanta Braves.

The Chicago Cubs haven’t ruled out a return of Schwarber. It just doesn’t seem likely at this point because they probably just would have tendered him if they wanted to bring him back. Regardless of what happens, he will always be remembered as a great Chicago Cub.
