Chicago Bears: Stunning loss should lead to immediate changes
Sunday’s stunning Chicago Bears loss to the Detroit Lions should lead to immediate changes.
The Chicago Bears were in complete control of their game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. They had a double score lead all day long but they let it slip away in the final two minutes of the football game. Mitchell Trubisky fumbled the football within ten yards of his own goal line and the Lions recovered. They then took over and punched it right in to take the lead. When the offense got back on the field, lots of bad things happened to lead them to be unable to mount a comeback of their own.
Matt Nagy is proving to be just such a terrible coach. The team just doesn’t play well anymore and that ultimately falls on him. The defense was unable to stop the Lions when it mattered most and the offense had no chance to make a comeback. When the Lions took the lead late, you just knew for a fact that the game was over. Even the team’s former players all want Nagy gone in real-time and some of them made it known online.
Ryan Pace made many mistakes and they are well known. Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, and Mitchell Trubisky would all agree with that statement and that tells you everything you need to know about his tenure with the Bears. They shouldn’t even have to think about firing him at this point.
Of course, Ted Phillips is the third party in the management trio that absolutely needs to go. In his place, they need to bring someone in who is better at managing people. Someone needs to come in that knows how to put people in the right position to succeed. They would need to find better talent evaluators and football people.
The Bears, for as long as they have existed, have been so against firing people in the middle of the season. It is time to change the way they do business. They need to let everyone go now. It shouldn’t even take 24 hours if we are being honest with ourselves. Week after week they embarrass themselves. This loss to Detroit was their sixth loss in a row which is the first time they have done that in 18 years.
This team is as bad, if not worse, than the Marc Trestman/Phil Emery years. To be honest, they are a joke of a franchise that is wildly overrated. Soon enough, they will be more known for being the team that passed on Patrick Mahomes than the 85 Super Bowl team. It is a disgrace what has happened yet again to this core that had so much promise just a few years ago.
