Chicago Bears: 3 starters who could be cut in 2021
By Ryan Heckman
Wide Receiver Anthony Miller
Next year, one position could look much different than any other, and that’s at wide receiver. With the future of Allen Robinson in doubt after not getting an extension done, the Bears could be left without a true no. 1 option at the position. However, using the franchise tag on Robinson is a possibility.
Robinson’s running mate, Anthony Miller, is a candidate to be cut next year as well, if you ask some fans. His inconsistency is on display just about every single game. At times, he can come up with some great plays. Other time, Miller drops some easy passes, is careless with the football or simply cops an attitude.
Thus far, Nagy has not held Miller in check. There has been zero accountability with Miller. But, as the 2020 season has chugged along, we’ve seen rookie fifth rounder Darnell Mooney get quite a bit of snaps as well. Mooney is a candidate to take on a big time role in 2021.
Miller, on the other hand, is a guy I would like to see get the boot. The Bears should cut their losses and rid themselves of his inconsistencies. If Miller is cut, the Bears save themselves just under half a million dollars. But, most importantly, they can move on to other receiving options which are hopefully more dependable.
