Trade One

If the Chicago Cubs acquired Blake Snell and used him in Jon Lester’s spot, they would be in good shape with their rotation. Lester was their third starter in 2020 so Snell would (if they don’t trade Yu Darvish) be their third starter. Kyle Hendricks would pitch ahead of him and it would form a really good rotation. Jon Lester is a legend and deserves respect but Snell would be an upgrade over him in the year 2021.

Adbert Alzolay is the type of pitching prospect that a lot of people have high hopes for. He made his MLB debut in 2019 and was decent but really started to show signs of improvement in 2020. He has ten appearances over the two seasons he pitched in the big leagues and his numbers in 2020 were awesome in a short sample size. This is exactly the type of prospect that the Tampa Bay Rays are taking and turning into a really solid starter.

Kohl Franklin is sitting as the Cubs’ number seven prospect. He isn’t projected (MLB dot com) to make it to the big leagues until 2022 which makes sense. The Cubs made him a sixth-round draft pick in 2018 when they took him at 188th overall. If he went to the Rays, they might be better at getting him developed than the Cubs anyway.
