The Chicago Cubs would be smart to add Blake Snell if they aren’t rebuilding.

We have an idea of the direction that the Chicago Cubs are going in but nobody can say for sure yet. They no longer have Theo Epstein because he has left them as of last Friday.

He has passed the torch off to Jed Hoyer and it seems like he might start selling off teams. However, nothing has happened yet so we can assume for now that the Cubs are going to try and win with their core as much as they can.

If they start to trade off some of these guys, we might be thinking differently but they are still the defending NL Central champions. If they don’t decide to blow it up, they might even be in the market for a starting pitcher.

Interestingly enough, it came out on Monday night that the Tampa Bay Rays might be willing to move Blake Snell.

Snell has been a great pitcher for the Rays over the past few seasons. Of all his success, he has been an American League All-Star, pennant winner, Cy Young Award winner, and has an ERA title. It has been a good run for Snell but it seems like his time with Tampa Bay might be up. If they are open to trading a pitcher like Snell, that probably doesn’t mean they are rebuilding after losing the World Series but they are probably trying to shed salary.

The Cubs need to replace Jon Lester if they are trying to win another division title in 2021. Snell would be a great pitcher to add in his place if that is the direction that the Cubs are trying to go in. These three trade packages might get it done for Chicago and Tampa Bay:
