Trade Three

The first trade was about the Cubs getting some top four organizational prospects. The second was about them getting some lower-level prospects but still good. What if the deal required something in the middle of that? That is what the trade of Kris Bryant for Andry Lara and Eddy Yean would be for both sides.

Andry Lara is the number five prospect in Washington’s system. He is an international prospect that signed with Washington in the summer of 2019. Of course, being in Washington’s top ten means that you are a pitcher. He is clearly very early in his development because he is only 17 years old. He should continue to climb up the prospect rankings if his development continues to trend upward. MLB dot com has his projected MLB arrival in 2024. If the Cubs added a guy like that and he exploded, they would look very smart.

As for Eddy Yean, he is the number six prospect in Washington’s system. He is a little bit older than Lara at 19 but still very young. He is going to be along in a few years as well, as MLB dot com has him coming in by 2023.

Hot. Three potential jobs for Theo Epstein. light

We don’t know for sure if anything between Washington and Chicago will come to fruition but it does seem like a good match. The Nationals have depth with pitching prospects and the Cubs have the third baseman for the Nationals to use as a Rendon replacement. It certainly will be interesting to see if these teams can get anything done in the coming weeks or months.
