Trade No. 1

At the moment, there are several teams attempting to trade for New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday, and that includes the Boston Celtics. Right now, Boston is one of the more serious teams looking to deal for Holiday and it appears they could try to be fairly aggressive in doing so.

Most rumors have the Pelicans wanting a significant return for Holiday, with some teams needing to move up to the top 10 in order to land him. However, with the following compensation, the Pelicans may be willing to part with Holiday — especially because Holiday has just two years left on his deal and would likely want to play somewhere else once it’s up.

The Celtics would have to send Gordon Hayward away in a deal to acquire Holiday, just to make the salaries work. But, the Pelicans would also get a young forward in Chandler Hutchison from Chicago.

In addition to Hayward and Hutchison, the Pelicans get the highest of Boston’s three first rounders at pick no. 14 overall. Boston, though, also lands a veteran reserve forward in Thaddeus Young, who would be a valuable piece to their playoff run next season.

The Bulls, meanwhile, would get swing man Josh Hart from the Pelicans and the no. 26 pick from Boston. Seeing Young leave wouldn’t be a huge loss, as he was already unhappy in Chicago last year and fits better as a bench piece on a contender. Hutchison is also at a position where the Bulls need a significant overhaul in the coming years.
