Chicago Bulls Rumors: Possible Zach LaVine trades with the Mavericks
By Ryan Heckman
Trade No. 3
Lastly, the Bulls could opt for the simplest of deals. The Mavericks would have to sacrifice a pair of first-round picks, but they would be serious contenders going forward.
This type of trade would essentially mean that the Bulls are fully committed to the 2021 offseason in being a huge period for them. Hardaway Jr.’s deal expires next summer, which clears roughly $19 million. With Otto Porter’s deal expiring and clearing over $28 million off the books, the Bulls will have quite a bit of money to use at their disposal.
Chicago will have their hands full with decisions next year, as a payday might be coming for Lauri Markkanen, whose rookie deal expires after this year also. If Markkanen breaks out under Donovan this year, they will need the cash to not only pay him, but hopefully another big name via free agency.
With plenty of money in their pockets and a couple of extra draft picks, Chicago would be set up nicely for success after LaVine. Meanwhile, Dallas could be looking at seriously competition for a championship in the coming years with their own big three.
