Chicago Bears: 8 can’t-miss 2021 prospects to start tanking for
By Ryan Heckman
5. OL Wyatt Davis, Ohio State
Next season, the Bears should have James Daniels back and healthy, along with Cody Whitehair. The interior of the line will be mostly strong, then. But, if they have the opportunity to add someone like Ohio State’s Wyatt Davis to that interior, the Bears would immediately have one of the best, young interiors in football.
One of the biggest struggles, watching this year’s Bears, is their inability to run the ball between the tackles. Chicago is historically known for their defense and running the football, but the latter aspect has been a complete embarrassment this year.
When Quenton Nelson was coming out of Notre Dame, the most blatant part of his game was the physicality. Nelson was a bully (and still is). That’s Davis’ game in a nutshell. He’s a strong, powerful interior lineman who makes sure the man in front of him is blown off the line of scrimmage.
Davis can also get to the second level and obliterate linebackers in the run game. He’s as good as it gets in terms of an interior lineman in next year’s draft, and the Bears could potentially find him between picks 8-14 if they fell in that range.
