Now losers of two in a row, the Chicago Bears should make a move before the NFL trade deadline.

Week 8 saw the Chicago Bears take a tough overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints. After going up 13-3, the Bears gave up 20 unanswered points before scoring 10 straight and taking it into overtime on the foot of Cairo Santos’ 51-yard field goal.

In overtime, both the Saints and Bears had their chances at taking the game on their first possession, but ultimately, Chicago beat themselves with a couple of bad drops on their final possession of the game. New Orleans then marched down and kicked the game-winner.

Now losing two in a row, the Bears have some soul searching to do. On one hand, the offense did look a bit better against the Saints. David Montgomery found a little bit of running room on occasion, and Nick Foles was able to connect with his receivers on a more regular basis.

But, self-inflicted wounds, such as a few key drops and Foles holding the ball for far too long and taking unnecessary sacks led to their demise. There were certainly reasons to be encouraged with the 20 points scored — as silly as that sounds. But, the Bears still have several problems to address if they will come close to competing with the NFC’s elite in the long run.

One team they might consider trading with before this week’s deadline, in order to try and solve those problems, is the New England Patriots.

Who would have thought a team coached by Bill Belichick would be in such a bad spot. The team hardly has any playmakers and their offense looks putrid. Defensively, they have too many players out this year to truly compete. At 2-5, their playoff hopes look grim and, according to a recent report, they are set to have a fire sale at the deadline.

So, what could a few deals look like between the Bears and Patriots?
