Let’s face it. The Bears’ offensive line is seeing struggles all over the place. Adding an offensive tackle might even make sense at this time.

If you have followed the NFL in any capacity this year, you know New York Jets downright stink. It would be no surprise to see them trade any one of their players at the deadline. Even stud defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has been brought up in rumors. While Williams would be an intriguing add for the Bears, let’s get back to the offensive line.

Tackle George Fant signed with the Jets this offseason on a three-year deal worth $30 million. For the Bears to take on that salary, they would have to have a plan in place to part with either Charles Leno or Bobby Massie next offseason.

Last week during practice, Fant suffered a knee injury. However, he ended up active on Sunday and played through it. It wasn’t a stellar performance by any means as he did have his share of struggles. But, if he’s back to full health soon, he would be a decent buy.

Pushing Leno and Massie would be beneficial, especially for the former. Leno has been pretty bad for the last season and a half, and it’s looking more and more like he will get let go at some point in the future. Chicago cannot afford to put up with a weak link on their quarterback’s blind side any longer.
