Trading Duncan Keith would be a hard pill for Chicago Blackhawks fans to swallow. With that said, he is 38 with three years left on his deal at over five million. The Hawks aren’t going anywhere over those three seasons so they might as well try and get something for him if a contender is willing. The Boston Bruins are a contender that might be looking for some help on defense.

The Bruins have lost Torey Krug to free agency (St.. Louis Blues) and we don’t know if Zdeno Chara will be back. They still have so many great defensemen to help them win like Brandon Carlo, Charlie McAvoy, and Matt Grzelcyk but adding a Duncan Keith to that roster would really help them. They have a chance to win the Cup now and adding an experienced veteran like Keith would really help them.

John Moore is an Illinois native so he probably wouldn’t have a problem coming to Chicago. He has the same three-year deal as Keith is except he is almost ten years younger and half the price. He wouldn’t help the Hawks win a Cup or anything but he would add some speed to their group and give them some more cap flexibility. This deal also ensures that the Hawks get an extra draft pick which is a valuable asset if they are truly rebuilding.
