1. QB Justin Fields, Ohio State

As mentioned on the opening slide, what the Bears do at the quarterback position next offseason depends on what happens at the position in 2021. If both Trubisky and Foles fail, then the Bears need to look hard at selecting Justin Fields.

Considered by many to be the second-best quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft, Fields should be high on the Bears 2021 NFL Draft board. His first season starting for Ohio State in 2019 was filled with lots of ‘wow’ moments that convinced you that Fields was a star in the making.

In his first season as a true starter at Ohio State, Fields had 3273 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, completing 67.2 percent of his passes, and averaging 9.2 yards per attempt. In addition to that, he also rushed for 10 touchdowns.

Over the last few years, we’ve seen, even with Mitchell Trubisky, we’ve seen Nagy be able to scheme some runs for the quarterback. Adding Fields would give the Bears another weapon and could potentially stabilize the quarterback position.

Based solely off watching his 2019 tape, it’s clear that all the necessary tools for Fields to become a star quarterback at the next level are present. One of his biggest strengths is being able to run with the football.
