Kyle Schwarber. 12. player. 9. . LF. Chicago Cubs

Kyle Schwarber was awful in 2020. He had an okay year in 2019 but nothing special for what we have been expecting from him. Chances are that we have seen the ceiling of Schwarber and need to move on. He would be a good designated hitter or outfielder on another team but he isn’t the type of guy you build your organization around. He had a negative WAR (-0.2) in 2020 to go along with his putrid .188 batting average. The Cubs might as well try to sell him off while they can still get something for him.

An MLB team might be willing to go for him because of his ability to hit the ball out of the park. Even though he had a dreadful season all around he still was on pace to hit about 30 home runs if it were a full 162 game season for him. A lot of teams can look at the fact that this was a short season where he can rebound back next year. Even if that does happen, the Cubs have no use for a player like him if they are beginning to rebuild.

It is a shame that things might not eventually work out for Scwarber because it genuinely seemed like he was going to be an all-time great Cub. He was there when they won the World Series and played very well but things have not gone all that great since. If the Cubs are able to get anything of significance out of him, it is worth exploring.
