G. Washington Capitals. Braden Holtby. 70. player. 19.

The Chicago Blackhawks are a team that has a lot of championship pedigree in their core players. Well, there is another guy out there who also does and that is Braden Holtby. He has been a key figure in the Washington Capitals organization over the past few years and it has led to a lot of team success. He has basically done it all in the league before the end of his career with the Caps.

The issue with Holtby is that he has fallen off a little bit. This is a guy who is a Stanley Cup Champion and has both a Vezina Trophy and Jennings Trophy on his resume. When it is said that he has fallen off, it is because his numbers have been awful for a couple of years in a row. It finally came to a head this past season as he couldn’t even crack a .900 save percentage.

If the Blackhawks believe he can be a little bit better than that on a much cheaper contract, they might find it to be something worth considering. He probably is going to get less than what Crawford wanted so that could be their excuse to get into this conversation. Holtby isn’t the same guy who won the Stanley Cup a few years ago but he definitely is worth considering.
