Chicago Blackhawks: Three non-tendered players to consider
The Chicago Blackhawks traded Vinnie Hinostroza to the Arizona Coyotes along with Jordan Oesterle to get Marian Hossa’s contract off the books. It was a good trade for the Hawks in terms of them getting rid of Hossa’s contract after learning that he will never play in the NHL again but losing Hinostroza felt like a loss to their depth. He then went on to have a very good first year with the Coyotes and made the loss feel even worse. He had 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points in 72 games for the Yotes in his first year there.
His second year wasn’t as successful as he only had five goals and 17 assists for 22 points in 68 games. Instead of keeping him to see what he can do in his third year there, they non-tendered him and he is free to go wherever he wants. He would be a great third-line center for the Chicago Blackhawks if they wanted a responsible player who can potentially chip in a good amount of offense.
He would fit in behind Jonathan Toews and Kirby Dach of course and then be the third line center if they move on from Dylan Strome. Hinostroza would be cheaper by a lot but might have significantly fewer points. Strome and Hinostroza could probably both play wing if needed too but you don’t want either of them on a 4th line at this point. Vinnie is the type of player that would be worth the small risk in bringing him back.
