Chicago Bears: 4 trade offers to make before it’s too late
By Ryan Heckman
1. An even swap helping two hopeful playoff teams
The Bears continue to keep wide receiver Riley Ridley inactive, and the more the season goes on, the more we will continue to wonder just what the plan is for him. The Bears drafted him in the fourth round last year, and Ridley was known as arguably the best route-runner in the draft class.
Yet, he has not cracked the active roster. Instead, guys like Ted Ginn Jr. and Javon Wims have taken reps on Sundays. With the Bears seemingly fine at wide receiver, why not trade Ridley to a team that could use one?
With the Bears losing Tarik Cohen for the season, they don’t have a true running back behind David Montgomery. Nagy will try to use Cordarrelle Patterson here and there, and Ryan Nall could see some carries. But, currently, the team needs another true running back, and it wouldn’t hurt if they could catch the football.
Damien Harris returned from injured reserve Monday night and led the Patriots with 100 yards on the ground. He certainly looked like the guy for New England. Factor in Sony Michel and the oft-used James White, and the Patriots could afford to part with a running back if it meant they landed a wide receiver.
