Chicago Blackhawks: Getting ready for 2020 NHL Draft
Who will the Chicago Blackhawks select in the 2020 NHL Draft?
The Chicago Blackhawks are in a weird spot right now. They made it to the NHL’s return to play bubble by the skin of their teeth. Although they had no business being anywhere near the playoffs based on the regular season standings, they defeated the Edmonton Oilers in the play-in round to advance to the playoffs. They were defeated by the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round. They showed some fight but now they have to fix a lot of issues in their organization. It starts with the 2020 NHL Draft.
The NHL Draft is going to take place on October 6th so it is right around the corner. Now that the Stanley Cup Final between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars is over, a lot of draft talk is starting to take place amongst the other 28 fanbases. Based on their playoff finish, the Blackhawks are going to make the 17th overall pick. There are going to be some really good players available as this is a very deep draft.
Hitting on this pick is big for the organization. They have some legendary players in Duncan Keith, Patrick Kane, and Jonathan Toews on the back nine of their careers and they need to start developing a core for when they leave. With players like Kirby Dach, Ian Mitchell, Adam Boqvist, and Alex DeBrincat in the mix, they are off to a decent start. Adding another stud in this draft would go a long way.
Their pick is hard to predict because a lot depends on who is taken before them. There are going to be some very good players like Seth Jarvis, Jack Quinn, and Kaiden Guhle. There is even a chance that the highly touted goalie named Yaroslav Askarov falls to them. No matter who they take, the organization needs to develop them so they can be a part of the upcoming core that tries to win a lot of hockey games. it is fun to know that although this crazy season is almost over, we have the draft ahead of us to dive into.
