Chicago Bears’ defensive backs have impressed

Speaking of rookies who have impressed, look no further than Pace’s second-round draft pick, Jaylon Johnson, out of the University of Utah. Injury history may have led to him sliding to the second round, despite being a first-round talent, and the Bears are reaping the benefits.

Through the first two weeks, he has surpassed even the loftiest expectations. He has been the best rookie defensive back, and that includes the No. 3 overall pick, Jeffrey Okudah who failed to see the field in Week 1 and got torched in Week 2.

He has the fourth-highest forced incompletion percentage (33), the second-most forced incompletions among rookies (four), and is Pro Football Focus’ second-highest graded rookie defender behind only Chase Young.

If possible, Kyle Fuller has been even better, allowing a 0.00 passer rating and only a 20 percent completion percentage. He has been one of the best corners in the league over the last few years, and without a doubt, one of the most underrated.

These are phenomenal numbers for the Bears’ corners who will be tested strongly in Week 3 when they take on Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. However, neither of these guys will back down from the fight and I expect their terrific play to continue.
