If you have followed the Bears in any capacity since Mitch Trubisky was drafted, you already know one of his biggest critics — Pro Football Focus. Now, Trubisky has definitely deserved a lot of his criticism from many different sources, but PFF has seemed to go out of their way to take shots at Trubisky over his career — even jabbing him on his birthday this year.
But, through two games, even PFF can’t hide from the way Trubisky has improved. It’s a small sample size, but Trubisky’s performance thus far has been one big reason the Bears are 2-0.
After the game against New York, the game grades were released and, shockingly, Trubisky led the offense with a grade of 80.2 overall.
If you are unfamiliar with how Pro Football Focus grades, it’s not easy to diagnose and explain. But, to put it in perspective, Patrick Mahomes received a grade of 83.5 in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 2 win over the Chargers.
It’s one game. It’s just a PFF grade. But, this is something we haven’t seen in quite a while. It’s telling. If Trubisky is getting showered with love from one of his biggest critics, that says something.
