Chicago Bears: 5 biggest concerns despite 2-0 start
By Ryan Heckman
4. Good and bad Mitch
What a first two weeks for quarterback Mitch Trubisky. If most of us were being honest, we didn’t fully expect him to look as good as he has at times so far. He has thrown some absolute dimes over the first two games and looks, at least in part, like a different quarterback.
The biggest difference we’ve seen in comparison to last year is Trubisky going back to using his legs to extend plays. He’s been able to get out of trouble at times, and in turn extend the play and make a great throw. A perfect example of this is his touchdown pass to Darnell Mooney this past Sunday.
Still, Trubisky has not been perfect.
Let’s give credit where credit is due. Trubisky has been victim of some drops early on, in addition to the two interceptions not truly falling on his shoulders, thus his passer rating may not be the best number to go off of. However, some of those above ratings are low enough to warrant some worry.
He’s a work in progress in his fourth season, but Trubisky should be further along in his development by now. There will undoubtedly be bumps along the way, but at this stage, it would be comforting to see some consistency displayed. Hopefully, going against two more bad defenses over the next pair of games will help.
