1. Drops

Over the last week and a half, this has been a sensitive topic for some Bears fans. Although Pro Football Focus tallied zero drops by the Bears in Week 1 versus the Lions, there were some questionable throws by Mitch Trubisky.

By the same count, there were also some passes that should have been caught. One which sticks out is a play that could have gone for a long gain, with Allen Robinson dropping a pass deep down the middle in Detroit.

Against the Giants, the Bears saw Anthony Miller drop two key passes — one that would have gone for a touchdown. Meanwhile, Robinson had the ball taken away from him in the air by James Bradberry, which was an embarrassing moment for him — whether he wants to admit it or not.

The fact is, Trubisky has thrown some impressive passes over the first two weeks and some of them have not shown up on the stat sheet because of mistakes made by receivers.

light. Trending. Bears: Extending Cohen before Robinson is a mistake

First of all, Robinson is not a guy who you’d typically see these mistakes from. He’s also made some eye-popping grabs over the first two weeks, to give him some credit. While dealing with a contract dispute, it’s likely been a distraction in the back of his mind. Hopefully Ryan Pace can get the deal done soon, so that Robinson can be completely focused on the field.

As for Miller, it’s inexcusable for him to drop passes like he has. The would-be touchdown could have been a difference-maker in the Giants game. If he catches that, the Bears score at least 20 points instead of 17, and who knows what would have happened had he and Robinson come up with the other two passes. The Giants game could have gone much different had those three key passes been caught.
