The defense was less than good

The Chicago Bears, regardless of what happened in Detroit, need their defense to be elite to have a chance this season. They are a very good unit and their offense really isn’t all that good (we don’t think). Well, they didn’t look like themselves in this game. There are a couple of reasons why that is but there is no doubt that they need to fix whatever issues they are having and get this thing going again. They are honestly lucky that Mitch played well to have their back for once.

It feels like we need more from Khalil Mack. He wasn’t as noticeable in this game as he has been in the past and that is a bit concerning. He is the most talented player on the Chicago Bears roster so it would be nice for him to start using it a little more. The fact that Robert Quinn is out doesn’t help much, though. When he comes back, he will line up on the opposite side of Mack and they should be able to create great pressure together.

Mack had two tackles and two assisted tackles in this one. He didn’t have a sack or force any turnovers like we have seen from him in the past but that is okay. They didn’t need a big play from him in this game to win but they might in the past.

They, as a unit, let the Lions do a lot of damage in the rushing and passing attack which needs to stop. They allowed 35-year-old Adrian Peterson to have 93 yards on 14 carries in this game and Matthew Stafford had a pretty respectable game himself. They got the big play when they really needed it though on the Kyle Fuller interception so it isn’t all bad. As long as they can get it right, this team might be okay.
