Chicago Bears: 5 optimistic predictions for the 2020 season
By Usayd Koshul
1. The Bears have a double-digit sack tandem
One of the major areas where the Bears opted to spend money this offseason was by upgrading the pass rush. By paying Robert Quinn $70 million dollars over the next five years, Quinn will join forces with Khalil Mack.
Now, the Bears have not just one, but two legitimate threats to get after the quarterback. This is significant because when the Bears had a tandem of Leonard Floyd paired up with Mack, Floyd failed to get after the quarterback.
Quinn and Mack have combined for 142 total career sacks, which is why they could easily have double-digit sacks in 2020. Another thing that makes this prediction more likely is the fact that the Bears will have a healthy Akiem Hicks anchoring the defensive line again, Quinn and Mack will have more one-on-one opportunities.
Add in the fact that the opposing offenses will need to pick their poison and figure out who to block between Mack and Quinn and it’s clear that sacks should continue to come in bunches for the Bears defense in 2020.
