The Chicago Bears should be really interesting this season and could be pretty wild.

The Chicago Bears are one of the hardest teams to evaluate going into the 2020 National Football League season. There has been no preseason thanks to COVID-19 and the only thing we can go by is the reports by the media that have been allowed into training camp. They have one of, if not the best defenses in the NFL but their offense has a chance to be putrid. There are question marks all over the offensive side of the ball so it is hard to tell how good they will be as a full team for that reason.

In 2018, the defense was able to carry them to a 12-4 record and their first playoff berth in a long time. They were defeated in the first round because Cody Parkey didn’t know how to make a field goal and that sent them packing a lot earlier than they wanted. They went into 2019, as a result, with big expectations. Unfortunately, they failed to meet those as they went 8-8 in a very disappointing fashion.

That down year made this upcoming year very hard to predict. They did an okay in the draft but it’s not like they had a first-round pick that is going to come in and be a difference-maker right away. Someone they drafted in the second round or later could step up big but for now, we have to hope that the offense is able to match what the defense does.

If the Bears are going to be one of the seven NFC teams going to the playoffs, a lot of things need to go right. If everyone can meet or exceed their expectations, we could be talking about a very good football team. There is also the possibility of them imploding on themselves and having an awful year. These are my five boldest predictions about the 2020 Bears:
