4. Linebackers, Secondary

OLB: Khalil Mack, Trevis Gipson

ILB: Roquan Smith, Josh Woods

ILB: Danny Trevathan, Joel Iyiegbuniwe

OLB: Robert Quinn, Barkevious Mingo

The takeaway from the Bears’ linebackers is the fact that they have four very talented starters, and if one of them were to miss time, it would not completely kill them. The only one which would hurt more than the others is, of course, Mack.

But, even three out of any four of these guys are a formidable trio. The fact that the Bears have four strong linebackers is a huge advantage. This unit looks so much different than it did just a few short years ago.

Behind the starters, you’ll find a few special teams aces and a rookie surrounded by guys who will aid in his development. The Bears are stacked at linebacker.

CB1: Kyle Fuller, Buster Skrine

CB2: Jaylon Johnson, Duke Shelley, Kindle Vildor

S: Tashaun Gipson, Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson

S: Eddie Jackson, Sherrick McManis

It’s official. Johnson is starting. The rookie second rounder will get his shot in a group of cornerbacks that are extremely thin past the starting three, with Skrine of course starting in the slot.

For now, Gipson gets the nod opposite Jackson. We will see what happens when Marqui Christian’s suspension is up, but if Gipson plays well, he should keep his spot throughout the season.
