9. . SP. Chicago Cubs. Tyler Chatwood. 32. player

Tyler Chatwood has been a combination of the two players ahead of them on this list. He is like Quintana in terms of the fact that his reputation with the Cubs will never be all that great. They paid him a lot of money to come over and he has not lived up to the expectations at all. He has been pretty bad as a Cubs starter and has never really been able to recover. They didn’t give up any prospects to get him but they spent a lot of money which has made other moves difficult.

He is like Mills because of the fact that he got off to a good start this year but doesn’t have great numbers. The numbers suggest that they aren’t going to have great endings to their seasons and aren’t guys that you can rely on in the playoffs. For those two reasons, you have to think about trading him if you are Theo Epstein and company.

Chatwood might have the best chance to get a somewhat decent return because he does have some nasty stuff when his game is on. The only problem is that his command has been bad but some team that needs a fifth starter or a backup plan for the playoffs might be willing to add him. The Cubs should take anything they can get for him simply because the cap-relief would be nice.

The Cubs might just be quiet on trade deadline day but if they were to move one of their six starters, these three are the ones to move. The other three would be useful in the playoffs and this team will be in the playoffs. If they can add something to help push them over the edge, they should.
