CF. Chicago Cubs. Albert Almora Jr. . 5. player. 9.

The Chicago Cubs have been better without Albert Almora Jr. on their field since the 2019 season started. He was petty good in 2016, 2017, and 2018 which made people start to believe that he was going to become a star but it never happened. In 2019, he took a major dip in his play and actually ended the season with a negative WAR. It is sad to see for a guy who the Cubs took with the sixth overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft.

If the Cubs wanted to move him just so David Ross would be forced to keep using Ian Happ instead, they might as well. Happ has been awesome for the Cubs this year and looks like he could be their leadoff guy for a long time. Almora was supposed to be their centerfielder but Happ has taken the job and ran with it both offensively and defensively.

There still might be a rebuilding team out there who believes they can fix him. He certainly has all of the tools and has proven that he can be a good player in the MLB. He just has to refocus and a change of scenery might do that for him. He was also there in 2016 when they won the World Series so a young team might like to have him for his experience. They wouldn’t get much, but anything is better than having him play games for them at this point.

Hot. Could the Cubs and the White Sox make another Quintana trade?. light

There is no guarantee that the Cubs trade anyone at all but you never know what will happen. If they can get a bullpen arm (and then some) for one of these guys then they should actually do it. No matter how you look at it, this team needs to make a change because what they have right now isn’t going to be there for much longer. We also don’t know how this group is going to play down the stretch which makes things even more difficult.
