Something hasn’t felt right with Kris Bryant since the Cubs won it all in 2016. He isn’t the MVP player that he was back then despite him not being old at all. If anything, you would have figured that he would have gotten better by this time in 2020. Injuries have played a bit of a factor in that but he just hasn’t been himself. He hasn’t been in the Cubs lineup for a while here so you have to wonder if he is shipped off somewhere.

Right before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down baseball, Bryant had lost his arbitration case on his service time with the Chicago Cubs. He remained under team control for an extra year than he wanted. It still feels like that was a bit of a strain on the relationship between the two sides. Scott Boras representing Bryant as his agent doesn’t give fans much confidence in anything either because he is all about getting his clients the most money.

If the Cubs were to move on from any of their star players, it feels like it would have to be Bryant. He is one of the most important players in the history of the franchise but the team has to be looking at its current roster and future with the best interest of the organization in mind. As a result, don’t be surprised if they move on from him at some point if not at this Monday’s trade deadline.
