4. Joel Embiid

There is a lot of uncertainty around the Philadelphia 76ers organization right now. The team was ousted from the playoffs this year by the Boston Celtics. Following the series sweep, Philly fired head coach Brett Brown.

After Game 4, center Joel Embiid was very up front with his feelings about being with the organization. Paraphrasing, he said, “If I’m here, I’m here. If I’m not, I’m not.” He talked about how he had always wanted to retire a Sixer, but current circumstances are looking as though the team might blow things up a bit.

It’s obvious that he and Ben Simmons are not co-existing as well as originally planned. So, one of them might be on their way out. But, it would take a haul for a team to get one of them.

For the Sixers, they would get this year’s pick plus next year’s first rounder. Additionally, they receive the young big man Wendell Carter Jr. and an expiring contract in Otto Porter. In Philly’s eyes, this would be about as good as it gets, unless another team was willing to up the offer to a trio of firsts.

From the Bulls’ perspective, adding Embiid to a roster including LaVine and White immediately make them at least a playoff team in the East. Karnisovas would then have the next couple of years to work the free agency pools in terms of potentially adding another big name. If that were to happen, Chicago then becomes a contender.
