Trade No. 2

As alluded to previously, the Bulls could very well move on from Markkanen after next season. His rookie deal is up in the summer of 2021. If Karnisovas doesn’t plan on keeping him around, he should consider trying to get back as much as he possibly could in a trade.

Markkanen, still in his youth, has always flashed potential as a stretch four. He’s shown us an ability to shoot the ball at a high clip at times, but for the most part, he’s been very inconsistent since being drafted two years ago.

If the Bulls were to shop Markkanen, my guess is they would ask for a first rounder in return. For the Nets, it would make sense to toss in another younger player along with that pick.

On the Nets’ current roster, Markkanen could plug right in at the four while Durant plays the small forward position. Like LaVine, Markkanen would be a great third option on offense for Brooklyn.

On Chicago’s side, getting the young, former second-round pick Rodions Kurucs, would be a nice consolation. Kurucs has the potential to be a solid rotational guy who can hit the occasional three.

The first-round pick Chicago obtains would be the same no. 19 overall this year, giving them a pair in that first round. Now, this year’s class is obviously not as good as recent classes. But, giving Karnisovas two firsts to work with in his first year could be fun, especially considering his affinity for international players.
