Chicago Blackhawks: Legends showed up to play despite odds
Duncan Keith is the greatest defenseman to ever suit up for the Chicago Blackhawks. There are some other ones that people might try to fight for that title but there is no doubt that you have to go with Keith. He has won the Norris Trophy Twice, the Stanley Cup three times, and the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs. He deserves a statue outside of the United Center one day as his number two will hang from the rafters and he will walk into the Hall of Fame.
Even a guy like Duncan Keith is going to slow down as he ages. Well, at 37 years old he isn’t even close to the player he once was but he is still very good. He was awesome against Edmonton but struggled against Vegas. That is probably because Vegas comes at you in waves with four lines and can make things very difficult on defensemen. That is what happened for Keith as the Hawks’ run ran out of steam.
He deserves a lot of credit for the way he played, however. He didn’t have to worry so much about this bubble year. He has won everything there is to realistically win for a defenseman. He went out there and worked so hard and deserves even more respect for that. In nine playoff games in the bubble, he had five assists and most of his damage came in the series they won. It was an impressive run for Keith and he deserves all of the love they can possibly give him for it.
