Chicago Bears: Tight ends have training camp buzzing so far
By Ryan Heckman
Jimmy Graham
One of the things Graham was criticized for immediately following his signing with the Bears is the fact that he was so-called “washed up.” What did he have left in the tank after he looked completely zoned out in Green Bay at times?
As the Sun Times pointed out, Graham was even fined at one point for violating the league’s media policy. He didn’t give the media his full time or attention. He wasn’t all-in while in Green Bay.

From all accounts, Graham has been a totally different person and player than he was with Green Bay. For whatever reason, he’s rejuvenated and seems to be thoroughly enjoying his early moments with the Bears — that wasn’t the case with the Packers.
Matt Nagy told Larry Mayer of the Chicago Bears official site that he loves Graham’s energy out on the field during camp. The Bears haven’t had a guy spiking footballs, dunking over goal posts and bringing the kind of excitement Graham has brought thus far. Said Nagy:
“That’s the swagger we need on offense. We need that energy, that guy that has that fire.” (Larry Mayer)
Graham has looked phenomenal in camp so far. He’s making tough catches. He’s focused. He’s obviously bringing the energy. But, just how good has he looked in camp?
According to a report via The Athletic, “the best player in Bears camp has been Jimmy Graham.”
The best player in camp has been the guy the majority of fans destroyed Pace for signing — myself included. Boy, if a lot of us were wrong on Graham, this will be a completely different and greatly improved tight end room in 2020.
