Pistons select G Killian Hayes, Ratiopharm ULM-Germany (France)

A point guard that has almost an equal floor to LaMelo Ball without being completely worthless on defense? Sign me up.

French point guard Killian Hayes might not be as famous as Ball, but many argue that he can be just as good. In fact, a recent report put out by Bleacher Report says that some scouts are seeing Hayes possibly being taken in the top five.

Now, I’m not going to lie and say I know everything there is to know about this young lad and his ventures in international basketball, but I’ve loved what I’ve seen. He doesn’t excel at one thing the way Ball does with playmaking, but Hayes does pretty much everything well and he is a very smart young player.

Hayes had roughly a 13-2-6 stats split and got over one steal per game while averaging about 27 minutes of work.

His assist-to-turnover ratio needs to improve, and his jump shot could use some work, but Hayes’ 2-point field goal percentage was over 50 percent and he shot nearly 91 percent from the free-throw line, though only on two attempts a game.

Scouts have pointed to the fact that Hayes heavily favors driving and finishing with his left, but given the fact that Detroit has recently started their rebuild, he’ll have plenty of time to perfect his game.

Fouls are the other glaring part of Hayes’ game that needs work, but this pick is pretty safe is you’re the Pistons.
