Chicago Bulls 2020 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Post-lottery edition
Pelicans select F Saddiq Bey, VILLANOVA
Another sharpshooter in the late lottery, Saddiq Bey might be my favorite forward in the lottery range.
Bey is what we like to refer to as a deadeye. The man hit over 300 threes in his two years with Villanova and chucked them in at a career 41.8 percent clip (45 percent last year)!
He averaged 16 points last season and possesses great size at 6-8. His defensive versatility allows him to guard multiple positions and swing between spots 2-4 on offense.
He does come into the league at 21, which is a bit older, and absolutely should be gobbling up more boards with his size. Averaging less than five rebounds at his size will absolutely not cut it in the NBA.
Scouts have also made comments on his ability to handle the basketball in half-court sets. In a catch-and-shoot or spot-up situation, he is deadly. If he is forced to slow down and keep the offense moving, he could end up in trouble.
Bey would provide a great bench piece for a Pelicans team in the midst of a Zion-led youth movement. His knockdown shooting would make him a great target in transition, an area where the Pelicans excelled last season.
In a weaker class, Bey could absolutely end up in the lottery here. It also helps that the draft stock of guys like RJ Hampton and Cole Anthony keep slipping further down.
