Chicago Bulls 2020 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Post-lottery edition
Suns select F Aaron Nesmith, Vanderbilt
Aaron Nesmith is quite good at shooting a basketball. Anyone else pick that up?
The Suns grab a piece to help them get back into the playoffs next year while providing another scoring option for Devin Booker with this pick.
Before a right foot injury stopped his season short of what it could have been, Nesmith was a do-it-all scorer, excelling as the head of the Commodore offense. The South Carolina native averaged 23 points in the 14 games he was able to play while shooting a blistering 52 percent from downtown on over eight attempts per game.
Bulls’ colorman Stacey King would definitely be screaming “SRIRACHA” for this guy.
Unfortunately, Nesmith’s season ended before the pandemic set in after a foot injury in early January, though scouts seemed convinced it shouldn’t affect his career in the long run.
The Suns need offense from someone who isn’t Devin Booker and grabbing one of the highest-scoring and most efficient players in college basketball before an injury seems like a good option.
Nesmith has the length to be a good defender, though that is something that will take a ton of work to develop. His instincts lack on that side of the court. He’s not a fantastic rebounder for his position either.
Overall, a nice pick.
