Chicago Bears: 2021 NFL Mock Draft
By Usayd Koshul
5. Round Six, Pick 174: S Xavier Henderson, Michigan State
If you’ve been keeping up with Bears training camp in 2020, you’ve probably heard by now that the Bears have a legit competition brewing at safety between Deon Bush and Tashaun Gipson. Bush is heading into year four while Gipson is heading into year nine. If neither are back next season, the Bears will need to address the safety position for the third straight year.
Xavier Henderson is a name that could intrigue the Bears in later rounds of the draft. As a sophomore, Henderson had 83 tackles, two interceptions, and two sacks. Quite impressive for a guy who’s started 24 games over the last two years.
With the Big Ten’s 2020 season being up in the air, any team that drafts Henderson will only have two years worth of actual tape on which to evaluate him. This could prove to be a risky move that has low-risk, high reward written all over it.
