When Tashaun Gipson was signed, the assumption was that pretty much you can insert Gipson into that other safety spot and let us move our focus to the next position. Bush however has other plans. If you are looking at from a skill-set vs skill set, Bush has the advantage. He is three years younger and gives the Bears a physical athletic safety that can cover all over the field.

Over the years, Bush had to take a backseat to Adrian Amos and then the following year Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Even with a solid veteran in the room in Gipson, this might be the best opportunity for Bush to finally take that starting spot opposite Eddie Jackson.

Reports out of camp are that Bush is having a good couple of days. While some still may feel Gipson will be the starter coming out of camp, we should not overlook Bush. Ideally Bush might be the best player on paper to pair with Jackson as the last line of defense. Jackson saw a dip in his production in 2019 when he was asked to play in the box more. Bush skill-set allows Jackson to go back to being the centerfielder in the secondary.

Next. Chicago Bears keeping things close to the vest as usual. dark

Bush is primed to take that next step and could earn himself a big payday in 2021 if he has a solid season this year.
