The second-year wide receiver got off to a slow start in last year’s training camp mainly because of injuries. There also was not much of a pressure to get him on the field with Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, Taylor Gabriel, and Javon Wims in front of him on the depth chart. With Gabriel release, the spot for the number three WR is wide open.

The Bears brought in Ted Ginn who seems to be the obvious pick amongst fans for that spot. Ginn speed should be able to open space for Robinson and Miller underneath. Wims is another player that is competing for that spot. Wims filled when Gabriel landed on injured reserved. However, Wims did not do much with the opportunity which is why we are here now.

Ridley has the most to offer out of the three that are competing for the job. While he is not the caliber route runner as his brother Calvin Ridley, that aspect of his skill-set is the strongest. In college, he showed a knack for creating separation and coming down with 50/50 balls. Ridley has some stiff competition for that third WR spot. However, it’s no doubt that Ridley has the most upside of the rest of the players outside the top two at the position.
