Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche were fighting with the St. Louis Blues for that top spot of the Central Division when the season came to an abrupt end. They are loaded with talent and could have easily caught them in the end. Now, they have a chance to increase their seed by doing well in the round-robin tournament.

The Avalanche have one of the very best players in the world. Nathan MacKinnon is right there with the best players in the world. He led Colorado with 93 points and is a nominee for the Hart Trophy as the league MVP. Their second-leading scorer with 50 points was Cale Makar who is one of the nominees for the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie. There are other stars there as well like Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen. This is a dangerous group that is fun to watch oftentimes.

The Blackhawks had very little success against the Avalanche this season. In their most recent meeting on December 21st, the Hawks won by a score of 5-3 but that was their only win against them in four games. Luckily for them, all of that would mean nothing if they were matched up in the first round of the playoffs. They would have a fair opportunity to redeem themselves against them and it would certainly be a good time.
