Tier Three

A tier-three type pitcher would even help the Chicago Cubs right now. They are brutal and you can’t feel good about any lead until the game is finally over. A tier-three reliever would be a big upgrade over a lot of guys they are currently using. David Bote might be a guy that they can move for a reliever like this. Bote is a good player but he doesn’t have a spot on the team in the long term.

Not only does he not have a spot on the team in the long term, you probably don’t want him at any one position in the long term. He gets hot and cold quickly. To start this season, he has been really hot. That might even be a way for the Cubs to use him as bait to get a good bullpen piece back in a trade. He is a good player and another team who is desperate for a good utility guy might be willing to do so.

Hot. Cubs bullpen is still a big mess. light

The Cubs haven’t been public with the need to fix their bullpen yet but you never know. There is no way that Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, or David Ross are watching this and don’t understand that this is bad. They need to come together and move someone in order to get some legit help in this area. The starting lineup and most of the rotation deserves some backup when they have a big lead late in the ballgame. You shouldn’t ever have to be worried in a game that you are winning 8-1 so fixing the bullpen is a tall task.
